Aphogee Protein Treatment for Damaged Hair

What Does Aphogee Protein Treatment Do?

Aphogee Protein Treatment contains proteins and magnesium which bonds to damaged hair with heat application.

This treatment eliminates hair breakage immediately and continues to strengthen hair over the next few weeks following treatment.

When heat is applied to the treatment in hair, it hardens into the hair and restores the structure to damage hair.

Nothing stops hair breakage dead in its steps quite as effectively as Aphogee Protein Treatment.

When to Use Aphogee Protein Treatment?

Aphogee Protein Treatment is most suited for the following hair issues:-

Damage from Chemicals

Hair that’s damaged by chemical processes such as perming, tinting, relaxing, bleaching, and keratin. This type of hair would be high porosity and very dry.

Damage from Heat Appliances

Hair that’s been weakened by overuse of blow dryers, hair straighteners, and other heat appliances.

With this type of damage, your hair would not revert back to its natural state and would likely be high porosity as well.

Excessive Shedding

You are experiencing an inordinate amount of shedding when you comb, brush or handle your hair.

This is different from the normal shedding on regimen day. There will always be some breakage when you handle your hair but it should be minimal.

Rough Textured Hair

Your hair breaks off a lot when wet and feels rough and brittle to the touch when dry.

Aphogee Protein Treatment is gluten-free, phthalate-free, and contains no parabens.

How To Do Aphogee Protein Treatment

The Aphogee Protein Treatment is a two-step protein treatment that involves the protein followed by a moisturizing balancer.

It’s a very serious protein treatment that requires you to pay attention to avoid hair loss or injuring yourself.

For the Aphogee Protein Treatment at home, you will need the Aphogee Protein Treatment, the balancing moisturizer, a moisturizing deep conditioner, and a hooded dryer or hand-held blow dryer.

I have included a how-to card at the end as well. You can print it to have on hand when you’re ready to try the treatment.

When you’re ready for the Aphogee Protein Treatment, follow the steps below:-

Step 1

Start on clean hair. You can use any shampoo or Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair. Shampoo only once.

Step 2

After shampooing, use a microfiber towel to dry your hair then section your hair into manageable parts.

Step 3

Pour the Aphogee Protein Treatment into an applicator bottle like this one to make the application less messy.

Step 4

Shake the applicator bottle thoroughly then apply the protein treatment to each section of hair.

Work through with your fingers to ensure every strand is covered. You can also use a wide-toothed comb. Clamp up each section as you finish with it.

Step 5

Once your whole head is covered, sit under the hooded dryer or use a handheld hair dryer until your hair is hard.

The heat binds the protein to the hair. This takes about 5 – 10 minutes.

It will take more time if your hair is long or very thick. Do not touch or agitate your hair once it’s hard.

Step 6

Re-wet your hair with warm water until the Aphogee Protein Treatment is rinsed out of your hair completely. It’s ok to agitate your hair at this point.

Step 7

Apply the Aphogee Balancing Moisturizer and work it through your hair from root to tip.

Leave it on for 5 – 10 minutes then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Step 8

Follow this up with a moisturizing deep conditioner. Do not use a deep conditioner with protein in it. This is important.

Deep condition your hair with heat. You can use a tabletop steamer like this one.

Best Tips for Aphogee Treatment At Home

  • Use the applicator bottle to ensure even distribution and prevent the treatment from trickling into your eyes by mistake.
  • Though the instructions don’t recommend a deep moisturizing treatment afterward, I recommend it anyway because I didn’t feel like the balancing moisturizer was enough.
  • Use disposable gloves to protect your hands in case you have cuts. It stings like hell.

Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor

In between the Aphogee treatments, you can use the Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor.

This reconstructor is a concentrated blend of keratin amino acids, botanical oils, and vitamins that strengthens and softens hair.

You can use Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor every week as a mild protein treatment.

However, don’t overdo it. Pay attention to your hair. If it feels like everything is okay texture-wise, you can let the reconstructor go for a few weeks.

FAQs About Aphogee Protein Treatment

Below, I’ve answered the most common questions I receive about using Aphogee Protein Treatment on damaged hair and getting the best out of it.

Does Aphogee Protein Treatment Work?

Aphogee Protein Treatment is a very strong protein treatment that binds to hair and deposits protein into the hair.

When done correctly, it works very well on damaged hair and restores curls to lackluster hair.

Does Aphogee Protein Treatment Expire?

Aphogee Protein Treatment has a very long shelf life and lasts up to 5 years.

Just make sure the bottle is closed properly and stored in an upright position in a cool and dry place.

Why Does Aphogee Protein Treatment Burn?

Aphogee Protein Treatment should not burn your scalp. If it does, it means your scalp is irritated.

If you’ve been scratching for a few days before treatment, your scalp will be very irritated.

In this case, rinse out immediately with lukewarm water and wait until your scalp is healed before trying out the treatment again.

It could also mean the Aphogee Protein Treatment you bought is not authentic. There are links to the real thing above.

How Often To Do Aphogee Protein Treatment?

You can repeat an Aphogee Protein Treatment every 8 weeks provided you are not doing any other strong protein treatments in-between. Do not overdo it.

Usually, once is more than enough for a few months for curly hair unless you are experiencing very severe damage.

Pay attention to the hair. If your hair feels OK after one treatment, then you don’t need to repeat the treatment at all.

How Long To Keep Aphogee Protein Treatment in Hair?

Leave Aphogee Protein Treatment in hair until the heat has hardened the treatment completely.

This process takes around 5 – 10 minutes depending on the drying method. After that, you can rinse out.

Leaving it any longer will not make it work better. Always follow the instructions.

Can You Use Aphogee Protein Treatment After Dying Hair?

You can use Aphogee Protein Treatment after dying your hair but you have to wait a few days.

Do not do it the next day afterward as the chemicals from the dye job are still working on your hair.

Can You Use Aphogee Protein Treatment After Relaxer?

An Aphogee Protein Treatment is excellent after applying a relaxer. A relaxer breaks down protein bonds in hair while Aphogee can restore it.

However, you cannot do both on the same day. Wait at least 24 hours after relaxer application before using Aphogee Protein Treatment.

If the relaxer caused any scalp burns, wait until your scalp is healed before applying the Aphogee Protein Treatment.

If your hair is severely damaged and without elasticity, you should not be relaxing your hair at all.

Apply the treatment then wait until your hair is a better shape before relaxing again.

Can You Use Aphogee Protein Treatment Without Heat?

This is not advisable. The heat is what activates the proteins in Aphogee Protein Treatment and helps it bind to your hair so it can work effectively.

There’s really no way around using it without heat if you want it to work.

Do not leave Aphogee Protein Treatment in your hair to air dry. This is a bad idea.

If you want to avoid heat altogether, then the best alternative is Aphogee Hair Strengthening Kit.

The Hair Strengthening Kit is a two-part lighter version that strengthens hair and softens with emollients.

You do not need a hairdryer for the hair strengthening kit. Learn more about the Aphogee Hair Strengthening Kit HERE

Can You Leave Aphogee in Your Hair Overnight?

Do not leave Aphogee in your hair overnight. This is a terrible idea.

When dry, your hair can easily break off if you agitate it so imagine going to bed with it in your hair.

You will wake up with broken pieces of hair all over your pillows. Don’t do it.

Should you continue the kind of treatments that lead to the need for Aphogee Protein Treatment, then you will need to repeat the treatment every 8 – 10 weeks.

Notes

  • If you are following the Curly Girl Method, the balancing moisturizer does not meet the requirements. In this case, you can replace it with an appropriate conditioner. Do not skip this step unless you want to snatch yourself bald.
  • Do not combine henna and indigo with Aphogee Protein Treatment. Henna mimics the effects of protein. You may experience protein overload. I recommend Aphogee Protein Treatment if you haven’t used henna and indigo for at least 10 weeks.
  • Wear disposable gloves if you have cuts on your hands. Aphogee Protein Treatment will sting very badly otherwise.
