Sacha inchi oil is not a popular oil but it’s being sold as the next big superfood. Sacha inchi is a seed that’s eaten like a nut.
This article will cover the benefits of sacha inchi oil, how to use sacha inchi oil, the best sacha inchi oil, and top sacha inchi oil products for hair.

What is Sacha Inchi?
Sacha inchi is native to South America where it has been used as a food source for thousands of years and is aka sacha peanut or mountain peanut.
Though it’s a seed technically, it’s marketed as a nut. Sacha inchi oil is extracted by cold pressing the seeds and flesh of the sacha inchi fruit.
The tree has a long production cycle of up to 75 years making it a sustainable plant as it assists with the reforestation of the Amazon.
In 2004, Sacha inchi was awarded the gold medal for excellent organoleptic qualities at the World Edible Oils competition in Paris.
Sacha Inchi Oil Benefits
1. Locks in Moisture
Sacha inchi oil has high concentrations of plant-based omega-3. This helps lock in moisture, prevent dry hair and split ends. Flaxseed oil has similar benefits.
2. Light & Non-Greasy
Sacha inchi oil is light and easily absorbed without leaving behind a greasy residue. Very good for use in the max hydration method.
3. Strengthens & Softens
Sacha inchi oil contains abundant amounts of vitamins A & E. Vitamin A strengthens hair and prevents brittleness while vitamin E softens hair.
4. Relieves Scalp Irritation
Sacha inchi oil can help relieve scalp irritation caused by excessive scratching. It also prevents dry and itchy scalp.
5. Relaxes the Senses
Sacha inchi oil contains an amino acid known as tryptophan.
This amino acid increases the release of serotonin, a feel-good hormone that relaxes the senses and promotes a good night’s sleep.
How to Use Sacha Inchi Oil

How to Consume Sacha Inchi
The sacha inchi seeds can be lightly roasted and eaten as a nutritious snack.
This is an ideal way for vegans and vegetarians to get their essential fatty acids and protein.
Some great brands of sacha inchi seeds include Mekhala Roasted Inca Seeds and Imlak’esh Organics Sacha Inchi Nuts.
Mekhala Roasted Inca Seeds
Sacha Inchi Oil for Hair Growth
While sacha inchi oil has properties that encourage a healthier scalp, it would work best combined with other hair growth oils.
I recommend emu oil, castor oil, pumpkin seed oil, and/or borage seed oil to promote hair growth.

Sacha Inchi Oil Side Effects
Using sacha inchi oil topically is tolerated by most people. If you are allergic to any nuts or seeds, you may want to avoid sacha inchi oil.
When it comes to consumption, it has been reported to cause nausea.
There aren’t enough studies to access the safety of consuming sacha inchi oil so I would recommend restricting it to external use.
